A “berry-tastic” day…

One of the very first things we do during a floral consultation with our couples is to start with the basics. This is mainly easy things: venue, budget, date of the wedding, colors, style, etc. Now, trending in the wedding world is the neutral color palette for…well…pretty much everything! So, you can imagine our excitement when this couple wanted berry pinks and purples with just a hint of blues!

From the first consultation with Taryn and her wedding planner, Myriam, the fun & playful nature of their color palette was radiating through their inspiration photos! Taryn explained that she really wanted to feel like she was in a bold, elegant, but also unique, space on their wedding day. We also put major emphasis on statement pieces that were then easily able to be repurposed from the ceremony to the reception.

Clay Theatre is a historic movie theatre built in 1937 that has been transformed into a captivating venue space. With clean lines, elegant white walls and ceilings, and classic hardwood flooring, it is the perfect setting for bold florals! Their ceremony space is in the courtyard with the vow space in front of a white wall. This allowed us to create luscious flower towers to frame the couple. Along the aisle, gold compotes overflowing with blooms! Plus, how epic is this mirrored aisle runner!!

Keeping with the ceremony time, the personal floral pieces of this wedding were perfectly prioritized in order to keep the focus on the statement floral pieces. This meant that only those who were involved in the ceremonial display were the ones with floral adornments such as bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, etc. Allowing the bulk of the flowers, budget and focus to be on said statement pieces.

So, what are these statement pieces you ask? Let’s see them! The first one you have already seen, as it is the ceremonial flower towers, BUT this actually has a second life as it is repurposed as a sweetheart backdrop following the ceremony! We kept this easily transferrable by building each tower on its own pipe and chicken wire stand. Making it easy for the Soulful Stems team to relocate them inside.

There were three centerpiece styles for the tables at the reception with two being the supportive characters to the third. Starting with the most petite is the floating candles with tussled petals and surrounding gold mercury votives. The next utilizes one of our favorite repurposing techniques, repurposing the wedding party bouquets. We HIGHLY recommend repurposing your wedding party bouquets as centerpieces, not only is it extremely cost-effective, but it is beautiful! By adding a decorative vase that is opaque, not a soul can then tell that this was anything except a centerpiece arrangement.

The last statement pieces and the third style of centerpieces at this beautiful wedding are the tall, focal table arrangements. Clay Theatre has tall ceilings with amazing lighting, so having a handful of harlow stand arrangements with lush arrangements atop of them, elevated the grandness of this wedding’s decor. These 3 1/2- foot beauties catch your eye as soon as you enter the reception hall. The look was completed with a table number and candles inside the base of the stand. The gold harlow arrangements framed the sweetheart table at the back of the dance floor, giving some serious depth as you walked into the space.

A few other arrangements were placed around the lobby where the guests enter the theatre and bar area, as well as on the cocktail tables used following the ceremony. We kept these simple but bold. A gold geometric flower adornment was just petite enough to allow guest to set their drinks down during cocktail hour. This custom sign was placed in the lobby entrance to the theatre and was completed with a flowing arrangement. The cake florals were applied by the baker at For Goodness Cake.
