Dreaming in Color…

  • One of the very first things we do before we even get to a floral consultation with our couples is to have them answer a questionnaire. This is mainly easy things: venue, budget, date of the wedding, colors, style, etc. Now trending in the wedding world is the neutral color palette for…well…pretty much everything! So, you can imagine our excitement when this couple’s wedding questionnaire came in with “Colors: Teals, Purples, Fuchsia, Navy/Blues” listed!

From the first consultation with one of our favorite wedding planners, Terri Gilbreath; owner of G.G. Events, the boldness of their color palette was bursting through their inspiration photos! The couple had a lengthy list of the travels that they have been on together and really wanted that to be represented on their wedding day. Lorelei was especially fond of the flower part of the decor, putting emphasis on arrangements that were grand enough to be repurposed from the ceremony to the reception.

As such, we all dreamed up plans to have decadent flower towers at the vow site of the White Room Chapel, framing the couple while they made vows to one another. We recommended this design to our couple because it played into the vaulted ceilings of the Chapel, keeping on with the lines of the room and the grand windows. As the entire space is white, the bold color palette contrasted beautifully against it.

The other focal point of the ceremony floral decor was at the back of each side of the aisle. Due to the room being very open, the clients preferred not having the backs of the guest’s chairs exposed. We were able to adorn this area with lavish garlands laid across glass tables that draped onto the floor, now framing the aisle entrance.

Perhaps one of the best surprises of this wedding is the bride deciding to don a boldly beautiful gown custom-designed by Daniel Thompson Bridals and to sport an all-WHITE bridal bouquet!!! Heck. Yes. This completed the entire look and came full circle as the contrast of the venue’s white ambiance in relation to the bold florals now was now accompanied by this beautifully bold bride carrying a contrastingly white bouquet…I mean, can it get any better?!?!

For the dinner reception, each table was lined with place settings, individual boxes of sweets, and a pop of bold florals in a teal compote, looking gorgeous from all angles. Speaking of sweets, let’s not forget this one-of-a-kind creation from Creme de la Cocoa bakery in St. Augustine! Now we talked about a focal for this client as being able to redecorate the reception space with the ceremony florals, and we did just that!

The vow site location was transformed into a party-zone with the help of Party Solution Entertainment! The DJ booth tucked perfectly in between the two flower towers that framed the couple during the ceremony. Recall the two lush garland runners and glass tables, these now framed the dance floor on the outsides of each flower tower, such a beautiful reunion of arrangements! The decision to repurpose the ceremony floral decor gave them a second time to shine as well as allowed the budget to go towards more illustrious floral designs that were then captured in so many memories!
